Being different isn’t always easy.

Accepting that your child presents difficulties can also be distressing. The hardest burden in this situation isn’t the difference or the need for help; it is mostly the way people are judging and perceiving the difference. In this way, some people might be hesitant to visit our MENTAL HEALTH children’s Center.

Yet, the best way to let go of prejudices is to demystify our perception, to find the real meaning instead of following our first impression. This being said, mental health, which is mistaken too many times as mental illness, has a completely different meaning.  The Canadian Mental Health Association offers this definition:

«Mental health means striking a balance in all aspects of your life: social, physical, spiritual, economic and mental. Reaching a balance is a learning process. At times, you may tip the balance too much in one direction and have to find your footing again. Your personal balance will be unique, and your challenge will be to stay mentally healthy by keeping that balance.»

You will now better understand that C.E.S.A.M.E isn’t a Center for mental illness issues, but an organization preventing and maintaining a healthy mental condition in children, by stimulating many developmental spheres in order to reach a psychic and emotional balance (self-esteem, social and motor skills, autonomy, adaptation, emotions management…).

It actually is an organization which is committed to children’s welfare, for the sake of a safe and balanced mental health! Now, you can clarify the popular belief with people who judge too quickly.

There’s nothing better than being well informed in order to stop prejudices.

Who, as a parent, doesn’t want his child to be happy?
